A Motherless Daughters Advice to Those That Still Have Their Mom

This post to me was particularly touching as it really made me think about the fact that we all now have our phones and cameras out and often it is about taking photos of us – selfies, our kids, something we are doing.  It made me question am I getting enough pictures of my parents?  Am I capturing moments of them with my kids?  Do I also know valuable pieces of their history and past?  One day they will not be around, or I might not be around and do we have these stories somewhere documented for us and our children.  There can be so much to learn from history and our families and why things are the way they are.  It can also be exceptionally hard when we cannot ask these questions anymore.  So I loved this post and I hope you do too.  Don’t forget to pop over and see who Mumma Morrisons favourite blogger was this week too!!

So What Is Getting Me Over the Hump This Week?

This week, god and it’s only Tuesday, has been a trying one already.  There have been some fairly emotional things going on in our lives at the moment which has made me feel like I am on this huge rollercoaster and I have no idea when the ride finishes or where it will end up but almost have to go with it and not sweat the small stuff.  I cannot help or push someone to act or think a certain way.  I cannot force someone to not behave a certain way.  I can only focus on how I behave and act and focus on what makes me happy.  So this week getting over the hump is about making me happy and not dwelling on shit I can’t change or control.  Cause I totally can let go of control right?   Ba ha ha ha ha.  Ugggmm.

  1. The beach.  After a not so great start to the week I was particularly down.  I didn’t feel like doing much but I beach with kidshave 1 day a fortnight off work with my daughter.  A good friend had suggested the beach and I almost canceled because I just didn’t think I would be great company and didn’t feel like leaving the house.  On the other hand, I did feel guilty that because of that one day my daughter is often dragged around the shops on endless lists of stuff that needs doing.  So I put my big girl pants on and went.  I cannot tell you how much better I feel now.  Fresh air, the sunshine, kids playing in the sand and friendship. It has made the world of difference and I just feel in a better frame of mind.  Doesn’t take the problems away but my head feels better and clearer.
  2. #findthegoodness.  I started a little series a while back, you can see the link up above and it is all about how when times are tough and get you down and it is hard to try to think of one thing in your day that was positive.  I can always find something that I can be thankful or grateful for.  It can be as simple as a flower, or the sky.  Nature helps a lot I must say.  It can be a smile from the lady in the shop or someone opened a door for you.  Sometimes I try to find these things to remind myself it is still good and there can be something to be positive about within that day.  I have been finding that this week and it has mostly revolved around nature and my kids.  I also reread my original post and am already thinking up my new #findthegoodness for the month of February.  Sometimes you have to dig deep but you can find it.Find the goodness series
  3. Wine.  Lots of wine.  Hubby is away for the longest time ever and between 2 kids and running a business I think I will need a fair amount of this scattered through the coming week!  As mentioned before deep breaths and one day at a time.
  4. Girls night out.  I am extremely lucky that the amazing mother in law is coming to babysit on Saturday night so I can have some fun with some awesome friends.  There will be champagne and giggles and probably lots of both.  That is definitely something that will get me over the hump this week.

So that is me this week!  How is your week shaping up!?  I hope that life is throwing you awesome and amazing things and lots of laughs and lots of cuddles!  Don’t forget to read some of the other blogs and comment and link up.  Happy Hump Day!

The beach is always a great place to unwind. As you said, fresh air, sunshine, friends, and the kids are so easily entertained there. #relaxing

I am always too late to link up – my weeks lately have been stressful and chaotic at work which has lead to sheer exhaustion.
